N.Y.S. No-Fault Benefits - Covering Medical Expenses for Injuries Sustained in a Motor Vehicle Accident

In New York State, all insured motorists are covered by the Personal Injury Protection (PIP) provisions of their auto policies. These benefits are not connected to the element of fault an accident. They are paid regardless of fault, or liability.
What is covered under PIP?
PIP covers economic losses. Economic losses essentially mean losses that can be ascertained with a definite money amount. These include ▪
▪ Medical/health bills, ▪ Lost wages, ▪ Other reasonable and necessary expenses related to injuries and the accident. (travel expenses to a physical therapy center)
These benefits are capped at $50,000 per person. They cover the driver and all passengers injured in the vehicle. They also cover pedestrians.
